Laughter Yoga Goals for 2012

For the last ten years I’ve been assisting organizations in establishing their strategic business plans. This involves developing a strategy, a vision, and then setting goals. When it comes to your own life what Laughter Yoga goals are you going to set for 2012?

Set realistic goals

One of the most noticeable things I’ve found with Laughter Yoga over the last eight years is that the opportunities are endless. From running a Laughter Club to presenting at a Conference somewhere…anything is possible. When you set your goals always make sure that they are reasonable and within your capability and reach. So often people set goals that are so hard that they are never reached. From there it’s hard to go back and try again. If you have easy to achieve goals you will find that you turn from a loser to a winner. Now that’s something worth laughing about.

Write them down

It’s been well researched and documented that 80% of people who achieve their goals have them written down. There is definitely something about the conscious decision of putting pen to paper (or keypad to screen nowadays) that has the ability of making things happen. Once they are written down be clear about the actions that have to be undertaken to achieve them. There is so often a gap between our goals and our achievements because the action steps are not as clear as they should be. Unfortunately good intentions are quickly overtaken by falling back into your old habits. The final step is to place a timeline to it. Once again give yourself plenty of time and don’t rush it. It’s better to succeed slowly than to fail fast.

Have variety

There is never a guarantee that any (or all) of these will work so the greater the variety the better chance you have of success. You could have a Laughter Club goal…to start one or to attend one a number of times each month. You may like to run a program at a Community Centre, or a weekly program to a health or aged care facility. Better still what about a paid gig into a business once or twice a month. All of these are feasible with a little planning and some action…and some marketing of course. An old Speaker friend told me that “you had to be a better teller of what you do than doer of what you do”. In other words you could be the best Laughter Yoga person in the world but never get a phone call because nobody knows about you.

Share them with others

Once you have them clearly written down go out and tell as many people as you can. The “laws of attraction” say that you will come across someone at some stage who will say “hey I can help you there”.

Celebrate success

And finally go nuts when you achieve a goal. I’m a great Australian Rules Football fan and I’ve never ever seen a player kick a goal and not go nuts. So why then do we kick a goal at work or in our personal lives and hide our elation at our own success. Better still have a friend you can call to share your delight. After all that’s what friends are for.
